Under the change in cyber law, there may be a fine of up to three years and a fine of 20 lakh Pakistani rupees for spreading fake news. However, journalists present to cover the opposition parties and the House’s proceedings boycotted it.

PTI opposed

The Electronic Crime Prevention (Amendment) Bill, 2025 was introduced in the House by Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar a day earlier. This bill is also called ‘Peka’ in a brief form.
