Pakistan shook after ‘Operation Sindoor’, approved retaliation to its army

by Rajeev Bansal
May 7, 2025

The National Security Council of Pakistan on Wednesday said that the armed forces of the country have been duly empowered to take revenge for the life of innocent Pakistani people in Indian military attacks “to take back” in time, place and manner of their choice “.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif chaired the meeting of the National Security Council (NSC), which was attended by cabinet ministers, chief ministers, heads of all services and senior officials to discuss the situation.

Indian armed forces launched missile attacks on nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor early Wednesday.

A statement by the NSC warned that in line with Article-51 of the United Nations Charter, Pakistan has the right to reply in self-defense in the time, location and manner of their choice, “to avenge the lives of innocent Pakistani people in Indian attacks.

The NSC statement said, “Pakistan’s armed forces have been authorized to take appropriate action in this regard.”

Sharif will hold a cabinet meeting and share details with the nation through his address in Parliament.

The statement said that the attack in the NSC meeting described India’s “unprovoked” and “illegal action” and stated that the NSC “clearly condemns” and called it a gross violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and regional integrity, “which is clearly war action under international law.”

It said, “The Indian Army deliberately targeting citizens including innocent women and children is a heinous and shameful crime, a violation of all norms of human behavior and provisions of international law.”

The statement said that the NSC called upon the international community to accept India’s “severity of unprocessed illegal actions” and to hold him accountable for the severe violation of international norms and laws.

The statement further stated that the Indian attack deliberately targeted civil areas on “false excuses of the presence of fictional terrorist camps”, resulting in the death of innocent men, women and children and causing damage to civil infrastructure including mosques.

The NSC statement further claimed that India’s attacks also pose a serious threat to commercial airlines in the Gulf countries, threatening the lives of thousands of passengers on the aircraft.

In addition, the Neelam-Zhelam hydroelectric project was also deliberately targeted by violating international agreements.

After the NSC meeting ended, it was announced that Sharif will hold a cabinet meeting at 3:30 pm, in which the developments would be discussed further. “He will later share the decisions taken about the ongoing tension with the country through his address in Parliament,” officials said.

Earlier, the Pakistani Army had said that at least 26 people were killed and 46 were injured in Indian attacks on the cities of Kashmir (PoK) occupied by Punjab province and Pakistan soon after midnight.

Operation Sindoor was started on 22 April under the vengeance of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people. Citing a “cross -border relationship” for this horrific attack, India has promised a severe punishment to the people involved in the attack.

The NSC statement said that Pakistan has strongly dismissed the Indian allegations claiming the presence of terrorist camps in its area. It said that Pakistan had honestly proposed for a reliable, transparent and neutral investigation in the April 22 attacks, which was “unfortunately not accepted.”

The statement said that attacking its innocent people is “neither tolerable nor acceptable to Pakistan” and claimed that, “India has once again provoked a fire in the area, unlike all conscience and logic, which will be fully responsible for the results of which will be completely on India.”
