Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed solidarity by speaking to Iran’s President Masood Pageshkian and described the Israeli attack as a “act of provocation”.
Israel on Friday attacked Iran’s atomic and military bases. Several senior military commanders and nuclear scientists were killed in the attacks. Later Iran also carried out counter -attacks.
Sharif strongly condemned Israel’s attacks against Iran in a telephone conversation with Poraskian on Saturday. He said that this attack is the sovereignty and regional integrity of Iran and full violation of the United Nations Charter and International Law.
Sharif said in a post on ‘X’, “Today, Iran’s President Dr. Masood spoke to Pageshkian and expressed the unwavering solidarity of Pakistan with the people of Iran in front of the unprovoked attack of Israel.”
The Prime Minister said that Iran has the right to self -defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
He described Israeli attacks as a serious threat to regional, global peace and stability.
Radio Pakistan said in its news that he also strongly condemned Israel’s continuous “massacre” campaign against Palestinians.
The Prime Minister urged the international community and the United Nations to take immediate and effective steps to curb Israel’s “aggressive stance and its illegal acts”.
He said that Pakistan is fully committed to promoting peace in the region and is ready to play its role in this context.
President Pageshkian thanked Prime Minister Sharif for the support and solidarity of Pakistan with Iran in this difficult time, especially in the United Nations Security Council.
He said that this sentiment of Sharif reflects close relations between the two countries.
