Peshawar: Two policemen were killed and another injured in an attack by unidentified assailants in Pakistan’s restive northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province early Tuesday. Giving information about this, the police said that this attack took place in Darban Kalan of Dera Ismail Khan district, which is adjacent to the border of South Waziristan. The unknown assailants fled after the attack. Police have cordoned off the area and started a search operation.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the attack on the post and asked the police to take prompt action to arrest those involved in the attack. The Chief Minister expressed his condolences on the death of two policemen including an officer. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also condemned the attack and expressed his condolences.

Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa killed 270 terrorists in 2024, including top terrorists carrying bounties, according to an official report released on Monday. According to the police department report released by the Provincial Information Directorate, the provincial police arrested 802 suspects during the operation.
