In Balochistan, Pakistan, militants hijacked a train.
Islamabad: Pakistan’s army on Friday released a new data on the soldiers killed in the train hijack in Balochistan. The Pakistani Army has said that out of 26 bounds killed by BLA militants in the Balochistan train attack, 18 were army and paramilitary personnel. ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary said during a press conference with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti that 26 hostages were killed by militants before the start of army operation. Please tell that earlier the Pakistani Army had said that 25 people including 4 soldiers were killed.
‘3 other government officials also involved’
Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary said, “26 hostages included 18 personnel of the army and paramilitary forces, 3 other government officials and 5 citizens.” Chaudhary also said that 5 personnel of Frontier Corps were killed during the campaign, including 4 personnel of Frontier Corps, who were killed by militants during the train attack. The militants of the Balochistan Liberation Army i.e. BLA on Tuesday ambushed over 400 passengers in Balochistan’s Boln area and attacked the passengers hostage.
‘A total of 354 hostages rescued’
After the train was held hostage, the security forces launched a campaign which lasted till evening the next day. The security forces entered the hijacked train on Wednesday and killed all the 33 militants in a dramatic manner, while successfully saved more than 300 passengers. A army spokesman said a total of 354 hostages were rescued, including 37 injured passengers. The army spokesman said that Pakistan’s security forces are running an average of 180 intelligence campaigns daily to end the threat of terrorism.
