PM Modi and American President Biden discussed several global issues

PM Modi and Biden discussion: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden discussed strengthening mutual cooperation and many global issues.

Many international and regional issues, including the Indo-Pacific region, were discussed. President Biden warmly welcomed Modi at his Delaware residence.

The two leaders appreciated the growing defence cooperation under the India-US Defence Acceleration Ecosystem (INDUS-X) initiative, which launches in 2023. They also discussed the progress made at the third INDUS-X Summit held in Silicon Valley.

Signing of important agreements

Many important agreements were signed between India and America in the meeting. Defence cooperation was prominent among them. An agreement was signed to purchase 31 General Atomics MQ-9B Drones (16 Sky Guardians and 15 Sea Guardians).

The US government has approved this deal at a cost of $3.99 billion. This includes 15 Sea Guardian drones for the Indian Navy and 8 Sky Guardian drones for the Indian Air Force and Army.

Features of this drone

The specialty of this drone is that it can be deployed on long-term missions in any weather. It can be equipped with air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles.

This drone can carry a payload of up to 1,700 kg, including four missiles and 450 kg of bombs. Once refueled, it can travel up to 2,000 miles.
