Jeddah: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, where his two -day visit will emphasize further strengthening the strategic partnership between India and Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia’s F-15 fighter jets provided security to the Prime Minister’s aircraft under special honors, symbolizing deep defense cooperation between the two countries. Describing Saudi Arabia as a valuable partner of India, Prime Minister Modi said in an interview to Arab News, “India and Saudi Arabia will move together not only for themselves, but for the peace, progress and prosperity of the world.”

Modi will talk to Saudi Yuvraj on various issues

Prime Minister Modi called Saudi Arabia a maritime neighbor, reliable friend and strategic partner and spoke of immense possibilities in the relationship between the two countries. He underlined similarities between Saudi ‘Vision 2030’ and India’s ‘developed India 2047’ and said that the two countries are working on bilateral investment treaty. He also appreciated the proposed free trade agreement between India and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which could give a new dimension to regional economic relations. The talks with Saudi Yuvraj Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday evening will discuss increasing cooperation in areas like defense, security, trade and investment.

India-Saudi relations strengthened continuously since 2019

PM Modi praised his role in strengthening the Saudi leadership’s foresight and partnership. The Ministry of External Affairs released a video of Saudi Jet aircraft providing security to the Prime Minister’s aircraft, which is considered a symbol of increasing defense cooperation between the two countries. The Prime Minister said, ‘India and Saudi Arabia have a natural interest in maintaining peace and stability in the region. Our growing defense and safety cooperation is a reflection of mutual belief. Let us know that the relations between India and Saudi Arabia have been continuously strengthened since the formation of the Strategic Partnership Council in 2019. (With language inputs)
