Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday saw the Thai version of Ramayana, Ramkien. Ekalak Nu -Nagen presented the re -performance of the epic through a combination of two dance styles – Bharatanatyam of India – Bharatanatyam in India and Thailand’s Khon -Thailand.

The timeless epic of Ramayana holds a very special place in both India and Thailand. This is the story of Lord Rama, the prince of Ayodhya or Ayutya. Lord Rama is named Fra Rama in Thai conversion.

However, both versions have praised the same qualities as the victory of good over renunciation, duty, devotion and evil. This epic is an example of a shared cultural heritage between India and Thailand as the same values are cherished in both cultures.

On the visit of Prime Minister Modi, Thailand’s Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Lalivan Karnachanachari told ANI, “Today we welcome Prime Minister Modi in our beautiful country as he has come here to attend the BIMSTEC meeting. We saw a mixture of Indian and Thai cultures during the demonstration. The Prime Minister will spend a good time here.”

One of the artists presenting the Thai version of the Ramayana, Ramakian said, “Today, we are very happy that we are presenting a combination of Ramayana and Ramakian and Thai classical and Bharatanatyam to the Prime Minister and other distinguished guests.”

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi saw the performance of Garba when he arrived at Bangkok hotel today. He was warmly welcomed by Indian migrants and Indian community members on his arrival.

Prime Minister Modi said that he is keen to participate in the upcoming official programs at the Summit of BIMSTEC leaders in Bangkok, Thailand. Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Surya Jungurungarengkit welcomed him at the airport.

On his arrival, he shared pictures from the airport, in which he was seen joining hands and talking to the people of the enthusiastic Indian community.
