PM Modi worshiped Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli with worship at the Buddha temple in Thailand.
Bangkok: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Vat Pho temple in Bangkok on Friday, which is famous for his architecture and 46 meter long huge statue of lying Buddha. The Prime Minister of Thailand, Partagarna Shinavatra, was also with him. Prime Minister Modi worshiped Lord Buddha lying down and gave a ‘union’ to senior Buddhist monks in the temple. The Prime Minister also presented a replica of the lion pillar of Ashoka to the temple of Lying Buddha and recalled a strong and vibrant, civilized relations between India and Thailand. Along with this, he also met Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
The Ministry of External Affairs said in a post released on ‘X’ with pictures of the journey, “A centuries -old cultural and spiritual relationship! Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Prime Minister Partagarn Shinavatra visited the historic temple of Buddha lying in Vat Fra Fra Chetophan Vimonamangakalaram Ratchvormahvihan-Vata Pho and sought divine blessings. “Vata Fra Chetophaphone Vimonamangkalaram Ratchvormahavihan is known as Vata Fo. It is the largest collection of images of Buddha in Thailand and is the oldest public teaching center in the country.
What is the history of Vata Pho Temple
Vata Pho was built as a monastery in the 16th century and was renovated in 1788 by King Ram-I. It was Raja Ram I who established Bangkok as the capital of Thailand. The temple was given during the reign of the current form of Raja Ram III. He expanded most of the Vata Pho in 1832, especially of South Vihar and West Vihar, where the idol of the lying Buddha is installed. This statue of lying Buddha was completed in 1848 and is the largest statue of Bangkok.
