PM Modi to embark on two-day visit to Laos
PM Narendra Modi Laos Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Laos on 10 and 11 October. This visit is taking place on the special invitation of Sonex Siphandon, Prime Minister of Lao People’s Democratic Republic. Giving information, the Ministry of External Affairs has said that during this period, PM Modi will also participate in the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit. Laos is currently chairing ASEAN. Prime Minister Modi will participate in the ASEAN-India conference for the 10th time. He will review the progress of relations between India and ASEAN along with other Heads of Government of ASEAN countries and will also decide the direction of mutual relations.
What did PM Modi say
While leaving for Laos, PM Modi posted on the social site X, ‘I am leaving for Lao PDR to participate in the 21st ASEAN-India and 19th East Asia Summit. This is a special year as we complete a decade of our Act East Policy, which has benefited our country immensely. Various bilateral meetings and talks will also take place with various world leaders during this visit.
S Jaishankar also visited
Before PM Modi’s visit, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had also visited Laos in the month of July. Jaishankar had reached the capital of Laos to participate in the ASEAN meetings. There are total ten members in ASEAN. Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia.
