Vienna: India’s President Draupadi Murmu has left home after completing his visit to Portugal and Slovakia. His visit has been “historic” in many cases. Let me tell you that this was the first visit of both the Presidents of India to the two countries in about three decades. With this, you can easily guess the importance of this tour. The last time an Indian President visited Slovakia 29 years before Draupadi Murmu, while Portugal’s visit took place after a gap of 27 years.
President Murmu was on a four -day visit in both these countries. She is now returning after finishing her tour. She has arrived here by road from Bratislawa to leave for New Delhi by aircraft along with Consumer Affairs, Minister of State for Food and Public Distribution, Naxuben Bankhania and Parliament Dhawal Patel and Sandhya Ray. After this she will come to New Delhi by air. The President reached Portugal in the first phase of the visit. She then went to Slovakia.
Dialogue on bilateral relations
President Murmu reached Slovakia in the second phase of the visit. Here the President met various dignitaries including his Slovakia counterpart Peter Palegini, Prime Minister Robert Fico, the Speaker of Parliament and discussed several issues of mutual cooperation. During this time Slovakia and India discussed cooperation in emerging technology such as space and artificial intelligence (AI) and discovered further opportunities in areas such as cyber security. Foreign Ministry Secretary Tanmay Lal said, “Cooperation in the field of education and research has been strengthened. He said that tourism is increasing among our countries. “If we look at the economic relations between India and Slovakia, then the business is growing rapidly.”
Trade increased by 3 times in 5 years
Slovakia said that its trade with India has increased three times in the last 5 years to around 1.3 billion euros. On Thursday, the President visited the Tata Motors JLR plant producing Discovery and Defender Model vehicles at Nitra, 100 km from Bratislawa. There he met Indian employees and took care of them. Draupadi Murmu along with Slovakia President Palegini was also present with him. The two leaders also went to the place where cars were being prepared. Murmu was awarded an honorary doctorate by ‘Constantine the Philosopher University’ in Nitra. (Language)
