Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence at the G-7 summit is a reflection of the size and dynamics of the Indian economy and the leading position of India.
Carney held bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G-7 summit in Canada on Tuesday.
At a press conference held at the conclusion of the G7 leaders’ summit, Carney said, “As far as Prime Minister Modi’s presence in G7 is concerned, Prime Minister Modi has participated in every G7 since 2018, which shows the size of the Indian economy, the dynamics of the Indian economy, the dynamics of the Indian economy, Indian technology and the leadership of India at various places beyond.”
Carney said, “Therefore, as the President of the G-7, hosting the Prime Minister in that context is completely natural, completely consistent. I sincerely hope that the Prime Minister, the Prime Minister of India, will be present in the G-7 next year.”
Carney described his bilateral meeting with Modi as “important”.
Carney said, “But I would call it basic, an essential first step, exchange of ideas, law enforcement, clear exchange of ideas, open exchange, mutual honor, sovereignty and confidence to provide a compromise to provide a compromise to give it the necessary basis for reconstruction of relationships based on mutual respect, sovereignty and trust.”
Carney said that the two leaders would again move forward to the appointment of the High Commissioners. He said, “And I would like to end my talk in this context that there are very deep relations between Canada and India between people and businesses.”
He said, “It is well known and currently he is not being served by the Consular Services, especially the High Commissioners, and it is necessary to have that level of service to rebuild the honor of sovereignty and to realize the ability of the relationship. And we will do so.”
Carney said that both he and Modi are committed to working in this direction, but “a lot of work is yet to be done.”
Last year, India withdrew its High Commissioner and five other diplomats, when Ottawa tried to connect him with the murder of pro -Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India also expelled an equal number of diplomats as Canada.
India accused the previous government led by Justin Trudeau of allowing Khalistani elements to run activities from Canada’s land.
Economist and new face in politics, Carney took over as the new Prime Minister of Canada after Trudeau moved as Prime Minister in March. After Trudeau’s departure, New Delhi said that it is expected to reinstaves relations with Canada.
