London: If Western countries allow Ukraine to use its long-range missiles to attack Russia, then Vladimir Putin has many options to retaliate. This includes nuclear testing. Experts claim that Russia can use nuclear weapons in response to Ukraine’s use of foreign missiles. For this, they are already preparing for testing. Apart from this, Russia also has the option of attacking British military assets or the extreme border.

Ulrich Kuehn, a weapons expert at the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy in Hamburg, said he did not rule out Putin choosing to send some kind of nuclear message — for example testing a nuclear weapon in an effort to intimidate the West. “That would be a dramatic escalation of the conflict,” he said in an interview.

Kuehn said Russia has not tested any nuclear weapons since 1990, a year before the collapse of the Vietnam Union. In such a situation, a nuclear explosion would signal the beginning of a more dangerous era. Reacting to increased NATO support for Ukraine, he warned that if this happens, Putin may feel that he is being considered weak, then he can take a dangerous step like a nuclear test.
