Vladimir Putin, President of Russia.
London: If Western countries allow Ukraine to use its long-range missiles to attack Russia, then Vladimir Putin has many options to retaliate. This includes nuclear testing. Experts claim that Russia can use nuclear weapons in response to Ukraine’s use of foreign missiles. For this, they are already preparing for testing. Apart from this, Russia also has the option of attacking British military assets or the extreme border.
As East-West tensions over Ukraine enter a new and dangerous phase, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and US President Joe Biden are in Washington holding talks on whether to allow Kiev to use long-range US ATACMS or British Storm Shadow missiles to hit Russian targets. Amid these efforts by the US and UK, President Putin on Thursday gave his clearest warning yet. In which he said that if the West goes ahead with such a move, it will change the nature of the conflict. Because then he will be fighting Russia directly.
Russia will give a proper response to America-Britain
Russia has also warned the United States and Britain of an “appropriate” response if Ukraine is allowed to use foreign missiles against it. However, in June he spoke about the option of arming the West’s enemies abroad with Russian weapons to attack Western targets, as well as deploying conventional missiles in locations between the United States and its European allies. Ulrich Kuehn, a weapons expert at the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy in Hamburg, said he did not rule out Putin choosing to send some kind of nuclear message — for example testing a nuclear weapon in an effort to intimidate the West. “That would be a dramatic escalation of the conflict,” he said in an interview.
Russia has not conducted any nuclear tests since 1990
Kuehn said Russia has not tested any nuclear weapons since 1990, a year before the collapse of the Vietnam Union. In such a situation, a nuclear explosion would signal the beginning of a more dangerous era. Reacting to increased NATO support for Ukraine, he warned that if this happens, Putin may feel that he is being considered weak, then he can take a dangerous step like a nuclear test. He said, then this “nuclear test would be new. I would not rule it out and it would be in line with Russia’s demolition of many international security arrangements over the past few years, which it has signed for decades.” (Reuters)
