Appointed as the deputy governor of RBI :. Dr. Poonam Gupta has recently been appointed as Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI). She is an experienced economist and has worked in various prestigious institutions.
Education and experience
Dr. Gupta has a master’s degree and PhD from the University of Maryland, USA. In addition, he has received a master’s degree in Economics from Delhi School of Economics. She has also studied at Delhi School of Economics and University of Maryland.
Appointment to major posts
Dr. Poonam Gupta has been appointed as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which is an important and prestigious position. She is the fourth woman in 90 years of the 90 years of the central bank to reach this post.
Dr. Gupta has served in many major positions in his career, some of which are prominent
– Director General of NCAER: She has been the Director General of National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER).
– Work in World Bank and IMF: Dr. Gupta has also worked in the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF).
– NITI Aayog and other posts: He is also a member of the Development Advisory Committee of NITI Aayog and the Executive Committee of FICCI.
New responsibility in RBI
Dr. Gupta has been appointed as Deputy Governor of RBI for a period of three years. She will replace Michael D. Patra, who retired from this post in January.
