New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar left on Monday on a three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Jaishankar’s visit is aimed at further enhancing India’s comprehensive strategic partnership with an influential Gulf country like the UAE. The Ministry of External Affairs said Jaishankar will meet top UAE leaders to review the close partnership between the two countries.

Jaishankar will meet the top leadership of UAE

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, “During his visit, Foreign Minister Jaishankar will meet the top leadership of the UAE to review the close partnership between the two countries and explore opportunities to further advance bilateral relations.” The statement said that this visit will provide an opportunity to advance the India-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership and give new momentum to relations. During Jaishankar’s visit, both sides are also likely to review the current situation in Gaza after the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Relations between India and UAE have strengthened

It is noteworthy that, bilateral relations between India and UAE have strengthened significantly in the last few years. Following the historic visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the UAE in August 2015, bilateral relations between the two countries have evolved into a comprehensive strategic partnership. There has been a major expansion in bilateral trade and investment ties since both countries signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in 2022. The Ministry of External Affairs said in the statement that Jaishankar will also deliver a lecture at the inaugural session of the Raisina Middle East Dialogue session to be held in Abu Dhabi.
