In Sri Lanka, at least 21 people were killed and more than 30 others were injured when a passenger bus fell from a rock. The accident occurred in Kotamale in Central Province when the bus driver tried to turn the bus to the left in the mountainous area.
The police gave information about the accident. Officials said that 75 passengers owned by the state transport body were taking 75 passengers from the southern pilgrimage to the northwest city of Kurunegala, when it fell 100 meters below the rock.
Transport and Highways Deputy Minister Prasanna Gunaasena said that 21 people died in the accident. Significantly, more than 30 passengers were also injured in this accident.
Malignant bus accidents are common in Sri Lanka and often these accidents are caused by careless driving and poor maintenance roads.
