Dhaka: Bangladesh is celebrating ‘Vijay Diwas’ today. On this day i.e. 16th December, Indian Army and Mukti Bahini warriors fought a war against Pakistani Army and played a big role in liberating Bangladesh. On Sunday, the eve of ‘Victory Day’, Bangladesh’s ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has launched a scathing attack on the head of the country’s interim government, Mohammad Yunus. Hasina accused interim government chief Mohammad Yunus of leading an ‘undemocratic group’ and said he has no accountability towards the people.

Sheikh Hasina called Yunus a ‘fascist’

Sheikh Hasina called Yunus a ‘fascist’ and alleged that the main objective of the government led by him was to suppress the spirit of the liberation war and pro-liberation forces. Bangladesh celebrates 16 December as Victory Day. On 16 December 1971, General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, the then chief of the Pakistani Army, surrendered with 93,000 soldiers to the combined forces of the Indian Army and Mukti Bahini after a 13-day war. After this incident East Pakistan became Bangladesh.

‘Power is being captured’

Hasina said in her statement that ‘anti-national groups’ have captured power in an unconstitutional manner. He said, ‘This undemocratic group led by fascist Yunus has no accountability towards the public. They are capturing power and obstructing all public welfare works.

‘People of Bangladesh are worried’

Criticizing the Yunus government, Hasina said that the people of Bangladesh are burdened with rising prices. He said that since this government is not democratically elected, it has no accountability towards the people. Their main objective is to suppress the spirit and voice of the liberation struggle and pro-liberation forces. In August this year, Hasina had to leave the country and come to India due to massive anti-government protests. (Language)
