On Monday, a cargo ship hit a jet fuel tanker near the coast of Eastern Britain, causing a fire in both ships. A major rescue operation was launched after the accident. Emergency services informed that a ship collided with an oil tanker in the North Sea, after which both of them caught fire. Rescue work is going on.
A gigantic fire in both ships
The UK maritime and coast guard stated that several lifeboats and a coastguard rescue helicopter, a coast guard plane and firefighting ships have been sent to the spot in the North Sea. The RNLI Life Boat Agency said that “there are reports that both ships caught fire after the collision and many people jumped leaving the ship to save their lives. He further said that three lifboat coasts were searching and rescue work at the scene along with the coastist.
37 people rescued
Giving more information on the incident, local public representative Graham Stuart said about the incident that the Transport Minister told him that the two ships were 37 members of the crew and one of them had been admitted to the hospital. He said, “The other 36 members of the crew of both ships are safe and information has come about them.”
This incident happened
According to the ship monitoring site Veselfinder, tanker MV Staina Imaculat with American flag -borne chemical and oil products left from Greece and anchored near Grimsbi port on Monday morning. A cargo ship with Portugal flag was going from Granjmouth, Solong Scotland to Rotterdam in Netherlands. The US-based marine management company Caruli, which operates Stenna Imaculat, said the “Jet-A1 fuel-rich cargo tank burst” when the container shouted a tanker, which caused the fire and “several explosions on the ship”, spreading the fuel to the sea.
He further said that all 23 sailors on the tanker are safe and have got information about them. Stenna Imaculat is part of the US government’s tanker security program, a group of commercial ships, which can be contracted to carry fuel for the army when needed.
