Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday joined and hugged Brazilian President Lewis Eneasio Lula Da Silva to attend the 17th BRICS summit.

Prime Minister Modi reached the modern arts museum for the 17th BRICS Summit.

Prime Minister Modi wrote on X, “I am grateful to President Lula for hosting this year’s BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro. BRICS remains a powerful force for economic support and global good.”

Prime Minister Modi was warmly welcomed by the Indian community at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Prime Minister Modi also saw a musical performance of traditional prayer songs. Welcoming Prime Minister Modi, members of the Indian community performed traditional dance on the theme of ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Operation Sindoor emerged as a balanced military reaction to the emerging pattern of an asymmetric war, targeting military personnel as well as unarmed citizens. The terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam in April 2025 gave a serious reminiscent of this change.

Sharing his feelings on the social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said that he is surprised to see the permanent connection of the Indian culture of the diaspora.

Prime Minister Modi wrote on X, “Members of the Brazilian Indian community gave a great welcome to Rio de Janeiro. It is surprising how he is associated with Indian culture and is also very emotional about India’s development! Some glimpses of reception are given here.”

After reaching Brazil, the Prime Minister shared a post on X, saying, “I have reached Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I will attend the BRICS summit and later I will go to his capital Brasilia for the state visit at the invitation of President Lula.”

A productive round of meetings and conversations is expected during this trip. “

During the Summit of the 17th BRICS leaders (6-7 July), Prime Minister Modi will exchange views on major global issues including peace and security, strengthening of peace and security, strengthening multiplicity, responsible use of artificial intelligence, climate action, global health and economic and financial matters. Brazil is the fourth country in visit to five countries.
