Six US MPs have written a letter to the newly appointed Attorney General against the “suspicious” decisions taken by the US Department of Justice (DOJ).
These include the case of prosecution against industrialist Gautam Adani’s group in the alleged bribery scam. The MPs feared that “the relationship with close aide with India may be in danger”.
Lance Gooden, Pat Follen, Mike Haridopolos, Brandon Gill, William R. Timsons and Brian Babin wrote a letter to the Attorney General Pamela Bedi of the US on February 10, “who drew attention to some suspicious decisions taken by DOJ under Bidon’s administration”.
Industrialist Gautam Adani has been accused by US prosecutors of bribing $ 25 million to Indian authorities in lieu of favorable terms for acquiring solar power contracts in India.
Prosecutors have alleged that this was hidden from American banks and investors from whom Adani Group raised billions of dollars for the project.
American law allows action on foreign corruption charges, provided that they involve some relations related to American investors or markets. The Adani Group, however, denied the allegations.
