Son of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrested.
Colombo: The son of former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been arrested by the police. This sudden arrest has created a stir in the corridors of power in Sri Lanka. It is being told that former President’s son Yoshitha Rajapaksa has been arrested by the police on Saturday on charges of alleged corruption in a property purchase case. He is being interrogated in this matter.
Let us tell you that Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son has also been a naval officer in the past. Now he has been arrested on corruption charges. Former Navy officer Yoshitha was arrested from his home area Beliatta. The arrest follows an investigation into alleged malpractices in the purchase of property during his father’s tenure as president before 2015. Yoshita is the second among the three sons of Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Yoshita’s uncle has also been interrogated
Yoshita’s uncle and former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was also questioned by the police in the same matter last week. The arrest comes at a time when Mahinda Rajapaksa filed a fundamental rights petition in the Supreme Court on Friday, seeking judicial intervention to restore his security.
