Colombo: Sri Lanka has put the holy dental remains of Lord Buddha in front of the general public after more than 1 decade. It is being told that after a gap of 16 years, the government has placed the holy dental remains of Lord Buddha in Sri Lanka’s central city Candy on Friday to see the common people. This information has been revealed by an official statement.
The office of Sri Lankan President Anuraya Kumara Disanayake has issued a statement in this regard. This statement said that the event will run for 10 days. That is, this program will continue till April 27 and common people can see dental remains from 12 noon to 5 pm local time. According to the statement, under a special arrangement for the ambassadors of 17 countries including India, a train has been arranged for them by train till Candy.
There may be a gathering of devotees
The Sri Lankan government hopes that a huge crowd of devotees may gather to see dental remains. Mahavela Ratnapal, a senior monk of the holy dental temple at Candy, told reporters that thousands of Buddhist devotees are expected to visit this remains. This dental remains have special spiritual, historical and cultural significance for 74 percent of Sinhalese Buddhist majority of this island country Sri Lanka. Ratnapal said, “Thousands of people are standing in queue on the three routes reaching the temple two days ago.” According to historical records, this dental remains were brought to Kandy in 1590.
