Hindu College Principal Anju Srivastava said- It is an honour that a student of the college has become the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. Harini was a student of sociology from 1991 to 1994. We are extremely proud of her achievements. I hope that the time spent at Hindu College must have played an important role in bringing her to this position.

Anju Srivastava said- Hindu College has a long tradition of students being in the student government. Harini’s appointment is another milestone in the college’s glorious history. Nalin Rajan Singh (who was the president of the Hindu College student hostel at the time) said- It was the 90s. Many of us (like Imtiaz Ali and Arnab Goswami) were starting to make our mark. It is wonderful to see Harini Amarasuriya becoming the Prime Minister. Nalin Rajan Singh also believes that Harini Amarasuriya’s new role will strengthen relations between India and Sri Lanka.
