According to a CNN report, a drone attack on the military base in Iraq took place at a time when Iran has fired several missiles targeting American military establishments in Qatar and Iraq, including Al Udid Air Base in Qatar – which is the largest American military establishment in the region.
The development took place on Sunday morning after the US air strikes on Iran’s nuclear installations. Two officials familiar with the situation confirmed CNN that the US was monitoring several missiles fired from Iran. A White House official said that US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chief Staff Chairman Dan Kane are in the situation room and are closely monitoring the incidents.
Earlier, Iran’s official TV had told that Iran has started a campaign against the American base in Qatar. Sama TV quoted the Iranian government TV as saying that this campaign against the American base in the region is called ‘Operation Basharat al-Fatah’.
According to CNN, the American employees in the embassies located in Qatar and Bahrain are in “nonsense and cover”, as Iran is firing retaliation towards Qatar and Iraq.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry wrote on X that its government has temporarily shut down its airspace amid growing tension. The move has been taken after Iran’s announcement of retaliation against the US, which has increased security concerns in the Gulf region.
