Describing US President Donald Trump as a “gambler”, Iran has given strict warnings that he has launched a war by attacking Iran’s nuclear bases, but it will end it Iran. On Monday, 23 June 2025, Iran’s Khatam Al-Ambia Central Military Headquarters spokesman Ibrahim Zulfkari said in a video statement, “Mr. Trump, Gamble, you started this war, but we will finish it.” The statement came by the US on Saturday after the attack on Iran’s Fordo, Natanj and Isfahan nuclear sites.
Zulfkari said the US attack has increased the limit of “legitimate goals” for the Iranian armed forces and the US would have to suffer its “heavy consequences”. Iran’s official news agency IRNA confirmed that the attacks targeted these three nuclear sites, which Trump claimed to “completely destroy”. However, satellite imagery indicates that Fordo suffered heavy damage, but its entire use is still unclear.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Archchi called the attack “violation of international law and United Nations Charter” and said Iran would use all necessary means to protect its sovereignty. “The US decided to destroy diplomacy,” he said at a meeting of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) in Istanbul on Sunday. Iran’s United Nations Envoy also said that Iran’s army would decide on the “time, nature and scale” of retaliation.
Trump described the attack as “spectacular military success” and warned Iran that “far more force” would be used in case of retaliation. He appealed for peace talks, but Iran rejected diplomacy at the moment.
Drone and missile attacks between Israel and Iran continue since 13 June 2025. Israel attacked Iran’s atomic and military bases for a week, after which the US on Saturday attacked three nuclear sites using B-2 stealth bombers. Trump claimed that the attacks were to “finish” Iran’s nuclear program.
Iran claimed that it had shifted its uranium reserves to a safe place before the attack. Iran’s Chief of Staff Abdulheem Mousavi said that Iran “will never back back” and “any action” against American soldiers is possible.
