The Federal Authority for Identification, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has recently made an announcement in support of Sudani citizens facing difficult situations in the UAE. Sudani citizens can live in UAE even after the end of visa period. According to this announcement, you can apply for a new visa, renew the residency permit and get an identity card (ID card) – even if the validity of their passport is less than six months.
It has been said by the authority that this special exemption has been given with the aim of assisting the situation of Sudani citizens amidst the ongoing crisis in Sudan. This decision has been taken in accordance with the rights of the authority under the admission and residency laws of the UAE.
Effective rules will continue till the end of the year from May 19
This provision has become effective from May 19 and will remain in force till the end of the year. Sudani residents, who are outstanding overstay or other types of delays, can now update their status through government digital platforms and apply for a new visa or renewal – regardless of the validity of the passport. This process will be simplified and all the fine will be waived.
The authority has clarified that this step reflects the commitment of the UAE leadership under which they are supporting Sudani citizens who are not able to renew their passports on time due to the crisis. The initiative has been launched in coordination with the Ministry of Human Resources and Amiratikaran, which is a major strategic partner of the authority.
