Attack On Military Training Camp in Mali
Bamako: Terrorists attacked a military training camp in Bamako, the capital of the African country Mali, on Tuesday morning. This information was given by the army. A statement issued by the army said that gunmen tried to enter the Faladi training school. The army said that the situation is under control and people have been asked to stay away from the area. A reporter from the ‘Associated Press’ heard the sound of two explosions and saw smoke rising from a distance. The training school is located on the outskirts of the city. At present, it is not clear who the attackers who carried out the explosions were, how many were they and whether the situation is under control or not.
Mali is battling rebellion by armed groups
Mali, along with neighbouring Burkina Faso and Niger, is battling rebellions by armed groups, some of which have links to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group. In recent years, after military coups in all three countries, the ruling junta has driven out French forces and used Russian mercenaries to provide security.
Attacks have increased continuously
Since taking power as Mali’s interim president, Col. Asifami Goita has struggled to fend off a growing wave of attacks by jihadists in central and northern Mali. An al-Qaeda attack in July killed about 50 Russian mercenaries. (AP)
