200 Women Raped in Iran: Many women raped Rape An Iranian man convicted of committing suicide was publicly hanged.
This step was taken after the Supreme Court awarded death sentence to Mohammad Ali Salamat in October. He was given death sentence in Hamedan.
Salamat, who runs a pharmacy and gym, was accused of rape by 200 women. It is said that he had committed these crimes in the last 20 years.
Some were also given abortion pills
According to media reports, in many cases Salamat raped women after proposing marriage or dating them. She also gave some of them abortion pills, which are illegal in Iran.
Salamat was arrested in January. After his arrest, hundreds of people gathered at the Justice Department and started demanding death penalty for him. Rape and adultery are among the crimes punishable by death in Iran.
In 2005, Iran publicly hanged a 24-year-old man accused of raping and murdering 20 children.
In 1997 authorities executed a 28-year-old man for the kidnapping, rape and murder of nine girls and women in Tehran. UN experts said in September that Iran was one of the world’s top executioners.
