Kathmandu: More than 96,000 tourists arrived in Nepal in February 2025, but compared to last year, the number of Indians traveling to the Himalayan country has seen a decrease. According to Nepal Tourism Board, 96,880 tourists reached Nepal by air in February. According to the data, the number of tourists in February this year has been slightly lower than the same period last year.

What do data say

The number of tourists visiting Nepal in February 2024 was 97,426. The number of Indian tourists reaching Nepal was the highest compared to tourists from other countries. In February this year, 19,187 Indians reached Nepal by air. During this period, 10,348 tourists from the US, 8,232 from China, 5,057 from Britain and 4,874 from Bangladesh came to Nepal. 4,370 tourists from Sri Lanka and 3,737 from Australia reached Nepal.

Effect of Mahakumbh

In February 2024, 25,578 Indian tourists traveled to Nepal while the number was 25 percent less in February this year. Mani Lamichhane, director of Nepal Tourism Board, said that Mahakumbh held in Prayagraj attracted millions of Indian pilgrims, which has seen a decrease in the number of Indian tourists visiting Nepal.
