Pashupatinath Temple located in Nepal
Kathmandu: Thousands of devotees from Nepal and neighboring India flocked to the Pashupatinath temple since morning to offer prayers on the occasion of Mahashivaratri. People started queuing up on Tuesday night for worship and darshan at the Pashupatinath temple on the banks of the Bagmati river in Kathmandu. Milan Kumar Thapa, Member Secretary of ‘Pashupati Kshetra Vikas Vikas Nyas’, said that the officials have made special arrangements in view of the large number of devotees in Pashupatinath. The local administration has banned the sale and consumption of cannabis, hemp, alcohol, meat and fish during the festival. Legal action will be taken against those who violate this rule.
Strong security system has been done
The temple opened at two o’clock on Tuesday night and the devotees were allowed to enter the temple with all four gates. More than 1 million devotees are expected to visit Nepal and India on Wednesday at Pashupatinath Temple. Officials have deployed 4,000 security personnel and 10,000 volunteers for the safety of devotees and smooth operation of worship in the temple.

The main temple and temple complex are attractively decorated with flowers, colorful lights, paper flags and banners. For the smooth arrangement of darshan in the temple, the authorities have put eight rows inside the temple and four outside the temple. Different routes have been set for effective management of crowds. Devotees can enter from various places like Mitrapark, Gaushala and Pingalasthan, where smooth movement has been ensured through systematic rows. Apart from this, a separate route has also been built through Tilganga Ram temple when needed.
Facilities are being provided to devotees
Mahashivaratri Main Festival Committee was formed under the chairmanship of Tourism and Culture Minister Badri Prasad Pandey, which is providing free food, drinking water and medicines to the devotees on the occasion with the coordination of various organizations. Revathi Raman Adhikari, a senior officer of Pashupati Vikas Nyas, said that about one lakh 50 thousand devotees had offered prayers till 9:30 AM on Wednesday. He said that this number will cross 10 lakhs by Thursday morning. About 3,500 sadhus including about 700 Naga babas have reached the temple from India.
