It is advisable to implement road safety measures. But even after this, cases of dangerous driving continue to come up. Now according to a survey report, South Africa has been judged the most dangerous country for driving. At the same time, India ranks 49th in 53 countries in this list. This has been claimed in a research report.

This annual report by the US -based driver training company Jickobi.com has described South Africa as the most dangerous country in the world for driving. In this list, India is ranked 49th in terms of safe driving while America is ranked 51st. The world’s safest country has been selected for the fourth consecutive year Norway Driving, while South Africa ranks final in the list for the second consecutive year.
On what basis did analysis?
Jutobi said in a statement that these countries were analyzed on the basis of indicators such as speed limit on roads, alcohol limits in blood of drivers and road traffic mortality. The average number of deaths in road accidents per one lakh people in all countries has come down from 8.9 to 6.3 in the previous year. However, there is no change in the speed limit of vehicles and the concentration range of alcohol in the blood.
What do the figures related to India say?
According to a World Bank’s 2021 survey report, India has one percent of the world’s vehicles but 11 percent of the deaths occur in the world due to vehicle accidents on roads. According to data from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, a total of 4,61,312 road accidents occurred by the states and union territories during the calendar year 2022, in which 1,68,491 people died and 4,43,366 people were injured. In 2022, the number of road accidents increased by 11.9 percent compared to 2021. Similarly, the number of deaths and injuries caused by road accidents increased by 9.4 percent and 15.3 percent respectively. These figures show 1,264 accidents and 462 deaths or 53 accidents and 19 deaths every day.
In the states, 64,105 road accidents (13.9%) were recorded in Tamil Nadu, followed by Madhya Pradesh (54,432 i.e. 11.8%). Uttar Pradesh (22,595 i.e. 13.4%) topped the states in terms of deaths due to road accidents, followed by Tamil Nadu (17,884 i.e. 10.6%).
