Tarkham crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan
Peshawar: An important border crossing site between Pakistani and Afghan forces took place in the early hours of Monday. The site has been closed for more than a week due to a dispute between the two neighboring countries. No casualties were reported on both sides of the Tarkham crossing in the firing. Officials of the two countries held a meeting on Sunday to open the border and restore peace but no solution to the matter was found.
Pakistan has objected to this
Pakistan has objected to the construction of a new border post from Afghanistan, due to which the crossing has been closed for 11 days. The two countries had already closed Torkham and South-Western Chaman Seema crossing due to firing. These crossings are important for trade and travel between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Taliban security forces firing
A Pakistani official said on the condition of anonymity that the Taliban security forces fired on the border post of Pakistan with automatic weapons without any provocative on Monday. The official said that Pakistani personnel also fired back. There was no immediate comment on this by the Taliban government in Kabul. (AP)
