Crisis Escalates in Texas The outbreak of measles in America is spreading rapidly, and the third death from the disease has been confirmed with the death of a school child in Texas. The disease, which started from West Texas in January, has now spread to many parts of the country.
Second death in Texas
Recently a school child suffering from measles died in the UMC health system in Lubbok, Texas. Hospital vice -president Aaron Davis said that the child was not vaccinated and was admitted due to measles complications.
This is the second death in Texas and the third in the US. After this, Health and Human Services Minister Robert F. Kennedy Junior arrived at Texas and met the victim families.
481 cases have been registered in Texas so far, while the number has reached 569 across the country, including New Mexico (54), Oklahoma (10) and Kansas (24). Kennedy said, “MMR vaccine is the most effective way to prevent measles.”
CDC teams have been deployed in Texas to prevent infection. UMC Health has started a drive-up screening.
70% of cases in Texas are in children and adolescents, most of whom did not take vaccine. Gaens County has 66% cases and Lubbok has 7% cases. Health experts say that the situation is deteriorating due to non -vaccination.
Meanwhile, criticism of old comments on Kennedy’s vaccines has intensified. Dr. Paul’s offtor accused him of spreading wrong information, saying, “This disease has come back because of him.”
Experts have warned that the number of hospitalizations in children may increase due to increase in measles cases. Lack of health facilities in many areas and hesitating towards vaccination is serious.
