Ceasefire between Israel and Hamas
Tel Aviv: Relatives of people taken hostage in Gaza on Friday appealed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to secure the release of all remaining hostages. He has also called on US President Donald Trump to maintain pressure for the release of his relatives. The six-week ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has entered its sixth day. Meanwhile, Israelis are waiting for the names of four hostages who will be freed among the more than 90 held in Gaza.
Hostages will be released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners
Hamas has not released any accurate information on how many hostages are still alive. In the first phase of the ceasefire agreement, 33 hostages are expected to be gradually freed in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. On Sunday, the first day of the ceasefire, the first three Israeli hostages were released in exchange for 90 Palestinian prisoners.
Hamas and Israel will release the list
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has currently stopped the 15-month-long war in Gaza. More than 47,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza. According to the agreement, on Friday Hamas will announce the names of four more hostages to be released the next day, after which Israel will also release a list of which Palestinian prisoners will be released.
What did the hostage’s family say?
Ayelet Samerano, whose son Jonathan Samerano is among the hostages, said, “I appeal from here to the prime minister and the negotiating team to do whatever is necessary to bring everyone back.” We urge you to ensure agreement on the second phase of the agreement before the end of the current period. We cannot live in uncertainty. All hostages must be brought back.” (AP)
