Anti-terrorism expert and founder of the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), Yigal Carmon, published an article titled ‘Signs of a possible war in September-October’ on August 31 last year. This article was one of the few warnings that correctly predicted the attack. Yigal Carmon wrote in August last year, ‘Recently there have been indications that a war against Israel could break out in September or October this year. An attack on Israel could trigger a war, which could result in the death of many people. Israel’s regular anti-terrorism measures will not be enough.’

Yigal Carmon made this prediction in view of the growing tension on Israel’s borders, Hamas’ influence, and Hezbollah’s growing territorial demands. Yigal Carmon said, ‘Although Hamas or Hezbollah are not interested in starting a major war with Israel, the situation can get out of control due to a confrontation. Unusually lethal weapons can be used.’ In his analysis, Carmon warned that even though Hamas and Hezbollah do not want a major war, the situation can easily turn into a major conflict.
