Train will run from Russia to Afghanistan, know what is Trans-Afghan railway project

Moscow: Russia and Uzbekistan are exploring possibilities in Afghanistan for the “Trans-Afghanistan railway” project. Surveys for this are conducting, if everything goes well, the land surrounded by land will provide access to the Indian subcontinent. Top Russian ministers have given information about this on Friday. Deputy Prime Minister Alexi Overchuk said in the 16th International Economic Forum ‘Russia-Islamic World: Kazan Forum 2025’ that the survey conducted for Trans-Afghan Railway will be completed in 2026.

These countries will join

The Trans-Afghan Transport Corridor will connect the European Union (EU), Russia, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and South-East Asia. The southern city of Uzbekistan Terms are already connected to Khairatan in Northern Afghanistan through the rail route built by the then Soviet Union.

Railway experts are doing work

The news agency ‘Interfax’ quoted the overchuk as saying, “Railway experts from Russia and Uzbekistan are drafting the feasibility survey of the Trans-Afghan railway project.

Transport geography of the entire region will change

The news of the government news agency ‘Tas’ quoted Russia’s Deputy Transport Minister Damitri Jeverev as saying that the Trans-Afghan route will change the geography and transport geography of the entire region. Jeverev said in the ‘Russian-Islamic World: Kazan Forum 2025’ held in Kazan, the capital of Muslim-Bahul Tatarstan, “Gratitude to the multilateral work group, which is being surveyed in Afghanistan. Uzbek Railway is conducting a survey with its Russian colleagues in it.”

According to the news of ‘Interfax’, an initial agreement in connection with Russia’s participation in the project was made in April 2024 during Uzbek President Shaukat Mirzioev’s visit to Moscow. According to the news, Uzbekistan’s Transport Ministry had earlier stated that the construction of the Trans-Afghan railway would take at least five years and the estimated cost of the project could reach US $ 4.8 billion.
