The United States President Donald Trump on Friday interacted with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and called it a “positive discussion” on ending the war in Ukraine. Explaining in detail about the conversation on social media, Trump said that he urged Putin to spare the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, who were “fully surrounded”. Trump believes that there is a “very good possibility” of war to end soon.
The conversation took place by Putin a day after the theoretical agree on the American proposal of the 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine, while he mentioned that some conditions have to be worked on. The Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelancesi is not very hopeful about Putin’s response to the Jalens’ resolution as he claimed that Russian President is afraid to tell Trump to tell that he wants to “continue the war, that he wants to kill Ukrainians.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “We had a very good and positive discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and there is a great possibility that this terrible, bloody war can finally end.”
Apart from this, Trump mentioned that Ukrainian soldiers are in a weak position and if Putin does not spare his life then there can be ‘terrible massacre’. The US President wrote, “But, at this time, thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are completely surrounded by the Russian Army, and are in a very bad and weak position. I have strongly requested President Putin to be spared.
Putin agreed to the US proposal for a 30 -day ceasefire
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday said that he agreed with the US proposal for a 30 -day ceasefire in Ukraine, but insisted that the conditions were yet to be worked on and said that any ceasefire should pave the way for permanent peace.
Putin said at a news conference in Moscow, “This idea is right in itself and we definitely support it.” “But there are issues we need to discuss and I think we need to talk about it with our American colleagues and partners and, perhaps, should talk to President Trump and discuss it with them.”
President Donald Trump had earlier said that Russia was getting “good signs” and showed cautious optimism about Putin’s statement. He reiterated that he is ready to talk to Putin and emphasized that the time has come to end the war.
At the beginning of the meeting at the White House with NATO General Secretary Mark Rutte, Trump said, “Putin made a very promising statement, but it was not complete.” He said, “Now we will see whether Russia is there or not. And if they are not, then it will be a very disappointing moment for the world.”
The Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelanski is not greatly exposed to Putin’s response to the ceasefire proposal by the US as he claimed that the Russian presidents are “preparing to reject the ceasefire”.
Zeleneski also said, “Putin is afraid to directly tell President Trump that he wants to continue the war, that he wants to kill Ukrainians.” He said, “Therefore, in Moscow, they are surrounded by the idea of the ceasefire with such pre -conditions that nothing will happen – or at least, it will be delayed as long as possible.”
