Turkish Navy Ship In Beirut
Beirut: Due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, Turkey has sent naval ships to evacuate its citizens safely. More than 2,000 Turkish citizens and some foreigners boarded it late Wednesday night. Zehra Sibbin, a resident of the Turkish south-eastern city of Mardin, got off the bus with other refugees. The Associated Press reported that the Turkish citizens would be repatriated via navy-operated ships TCG Bayraktar and TCG Sankttar. Six ships arrived in Beirut on Wednesday morning from the port of Mersin in southern Turkey carrying 300 tonnes of humanitarian supplies, including food, hygiene kits, utensils, tents, beds and blankets. Apart from Turkish citizens, people from Bulgaria, Romania and Kazakhstan also applied to travel on Turkish ships. Officials have not disclosed the numbers.
