UAE doctors warning, Iran-Israel is increasing mental stress due to fierce scenes of war

The Israel-Iran struggle and the Israel-Hamas war in Ghazha may be far away from the UAE, but the effect of mental stress caused by it is also being seen here. Such videos and pictures are constantly coming out on news channels and social media – in which missile attacks, buildings, bodies scattered on the streets and other frightening scenes are being shown without any sensoring.

Mental problems like anxiety, fear and emotional instability are now coming up rapidly in people looking at such graphic and violent materials. According to mental health experts, many patients are reaching clinics, which are facing sleep, nervousness, restlessness and depression. Experts have urged people to avoid watching war related scenes on social media, especially children and teenagers, and if you feel the need, take psychiatric advice.

Mental stress is increasing

Dr. Kapil Sundarkant Kulkarni, a specialist at NMC Specialty Hospital, Dubai Investments Park (DIP), has confirmed that the number of psychological help has increased due to war concerns. Dr. Kulkarni said, “Yes, the number of patients coming to OPD has increased to consult psychiatrist and psychologists since the conflict started.”

He further said that updates related to the war that come every day, not only in the common people, but also in those special groups, which are already sensitive to such situations. Experts believe that watching continuous violent news and scenes can spoil people’s mental balance, so it is very important to limit media exposure and seek professional help.

Dr. Kulkarni said, while many people are voluntarily taking mental health assistance, some patients are being brought by concerned families. He said but some sections of society still lack awareness about mental health. He said, it is very important to educate them about the mental effects of war and available resources.

Online content affects mental health

Dr. Javed said that watching continuous violent or tragic material can have long -lasting mental effects, including constant feelings of sorrow, disappointment, bad dreams and problems related to sleep. He further said that due to continuous viewing of this material, the cases of post-tromatic stress disorder (PTSD) are increasing.
