UN condemns train hijack in Pakistan, called for immediate release of hostages

United Nations Secretary -General Antonio strongly condemned the kidnapping of a train in Balochistan province of Pakistan and called for his immediate release expressing concern about those held hostage.

The United Nations chief emphasized that attacks on citizens were unacceptable.

“General Secretary strongly condemns the kidnapping of the train in Balochistan province of Pakistan,” said in a statement issued by General Secretary spokesman Stephen Dujarik.

The statement said that Guterres are very concerned about those held hostage and call on their immediate release.

Suspected Baloch gunmen opened fire on a passenger train in Pakistan’s disturbed Balochistan on Tuesday.

According to officials, the Jafar Express, which had about 500 passengers in nine coaches, was going from Quetta to Peshawar in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, when he was firing between Gudalar and Piru Konari.

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed that it had taken the train derailed and captured it. The group said it killed six security personnel and detained more than 100 people, including security personnel.

In a statement, the BLA warned that if the Pakistani Army started any campaign, all the hostages would be killed “. The group is banned in Pakistan, Britain and America.

According to defense sources in Pakistan, security forces have killed about 16 terrorists, while about 104 hostages have been rescued after a fierce fight with terrorists.
