Washington: The US has taken major action against China for supplying material to Pakistan’s missile program. The US has banned 4 Chinese companies and a Pakistani company, including an individual, for supplying material to Pakistan’s ballistic missile program under missile sanctions laws. US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statement that the US has banned the Beijing Research Institute of Automation for Machine Building Industry (RIAMB) under missile sanctions laws, which has worked with Pakistan’s National Development Complex (NDC).
The statement said the Beijing Research Institute had worked with the NDC in the development and production of Pakistan’s long-range ballistic missiles to procure equipment for testing large-diameter rocket motors, including the Shaheen-3 and Ababil. “The United States is imposing sanctions on three PRC-based entities, one PRC individual, and one Pakistani entity for ballistic missile proliferation activities. These include PRC-based companies Hubei Huachangda Intelligent Equipment Co., Universal Enterprise Ltd., and Xi’an Longde Technology Development Co., Ltd. (aka Lontech); PRC individual Luo Dongmei (aka Steed Luo). The department also imposed sanctions on Pakistan-based entity Innovative Equipment under missile sanctions laws,” the statement said.
Chinese companies were banned even 1 year ago
The US had similarly imposed sanctions on three China-based companies for supplying missile-worthy items to Pakistan in October 2023 last year. The US State Department had approved sanctions on General Technology Limited, Beijing Luo Luo Technology Development Company Limited and Changzhou Utech Composite Company Limited for supplying brazing materials used to join components in ballistic missile rocket engines, in the production of combustion chambers, and for supplying mandrels and other machinery used in the production of solid-propellant rocket motors.
