New York/ Washington: US President Donald Trump has said that despite having ‘very good relations’ with India, the ‘only problem’ is that India is one of the highest customs countries in the world. Along with this, Trump also reiterated his threat to impose counter customs duty on imports from India from April 2.

Trump told the problem

Donald Trump said this during a discussion on America’s relations with India in an interview with American news website ‘Breitebart News’. When asked about the summit talks with Prime Minister Modi last month, Trump said, “I have very good relations with India, but my only problem with India is that he is one of the highest charges in the world.” The US President said, “I believe that he is probably going to cut those charges to a great extent. However, on 2 April we will charge the same fee from them as they charge from us. ”

Trump has told India ‘Tariff King’

Trump has repeatedly criticized India’s high fees on US products. He has said that India is a very high charge country. He has also called India a ‘tariff king’ in the past. During a joint press conference with Prime Minister Modi at the White House last month, Trump had said that India had been very strict in the matter of customs.

‘Agree has not yet been reached’

The US President said in early March that India had agreed to ‘cut’ its fee. However, Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal had told a parliamentary committee on March 10 that talks about this were still going on and no agreement has been reached between India and the US on trade fee yet.

America will impose retaliation from April 2

President Donald Trump has announced the imposition of counter -duty from April 2, terming the tariffs being imposed by several countries including India and China. He had said that the US would impose the same duty on imports from other countries, which they impose on American exports. Trump had said, “April 2 is a liberation day for our country. We are getting some part of the money which was given by very foolish presidents because they did not know what they were doing.” (Language)
