Earlier in the day, officials said that at least 28 bodies were extracted from the icy water of the Potomac river on Wednesday night. While landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington, a passenger aircraft collided with an army helicopter, after which a large -scale rescue operation was launched in the nearby Potomac River.
According to the airline ‘American Airlines’, the aircraft had 60 passengers and four crew members. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that the collision occurred at around 9 pm at the Eastern standard time, when a regional aircraft flying from Wichita in Kansas collided with a military ‘Blackhawk’ helicopter while reaching the runway of the airport.
