Video: 122 dead so far, 64 missing, floods and landslides caused devastation in Nepal –

Many districts of Nepal submerged in floods

The death toll in rain-triggered floods and landslides in Nepal rose to 122 on Sunday. Police gave this information. Large parts of eastern and central Nepal have been submerged since Friday. There has been sudden flood in many parts of the country.

48 people lost their lives in Kathmandu

According to Armed Police Force sources, 64 people are missing due to floods and landslides. 45 people have been injured. Maximum 48 people have died in Kathmandu Valley. At least 195 houses and eight bridges were damaged. Security personnel have rescued about 3,100 people.

Such devastating floods in the last 45 years

According to eyewitnesses, they have not seen such a devastating flood in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 40-45 years. The armed police force said the death toll had risen to 122. At least 19 people died when a bus was hit by a landslide in Dhading district near Kathmandu on Saturday. Five people died after a house collapsed in a landslide in Bhaktapur city.

6 football players lost their lives in landslide

Six football players lost their lives and others were washed away in flood waters in a landslide at a training center run by the ‘All India Nepal Association’ in Makwanpur. Despite the forecast of rain continuing till Tuesday, there was some relief on Sunday.

Rivers flowing above danger mark

“I have never seen floods of this scale in Kathmandu before,” said Arun Bhakta Shrestha, climate and environment expert at the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). A report published by ICMOD on Saturday said the Bagmati, Kathmandu’s main river, was flowing above the danger mark after torrential rains lashed eastern and central Nepal on Friday and Saturday.

The report said that low pressure conditions and monsoon conditions in the Bay of Bengal resulted in exceptionally high rainfall on Saturday. Scientists say that due to climate change, the amount and timing of rainfall is changing across Asia.

Due to floods and landslides, life has come to a standstill in many parts of Nepal. Many highways and roads are closed. Hundreds of houses and bridges have been washed away and hundreds of families have been displaced. Thousands of passengers are stranded at various places due to road closure.
