H5N1 virus spreading in America
America H5N1 Virus: H5N1 is a type of avian influenza virus which is also commonly known as bird flu. This virus mainly affects birds but in some cases it can also infect humans and other animals. Recently, reports of the spreading of H5N1 virus in the US have increased concern. Especially this has happened when it has also been found in some cattle and humans.
There is a possibility of infection spreading
The Global Virus Network, an organization representing human and animal virus scientists from more than 40 countries, has urged governments around the world to take action and prepared against the H5N1 outbreak. Calling for action in the LANCET report, the global organization said, “Dairy cows and humans in humans have increased the possibility of epidemic due to spreading H5N1 avian influenza virus infection. More than 995 dairy cows and at least 70 humans have been affected by it.”
This is how the virus spreads
The H5N1 virus spreads rapidly when the infected birds come into contact with stools, spits or feathers. It also spreads from the intake of infected meat (if not cooked properly). According to reports, it is now being found in cattle and has reached humans in some cases. The H5N1 virus is also known as Avian Influenza or Bird Flu.

Virus was found for the first time in China
In 1996, the first identified in China’s Giz H5N1 attracted the world attention when the virus spread to chickens. After chickens, this virus also spread to humans. However, this virus does not spread easily among humans, but its high mortality in human affairs causes it a serious concern.
Symptoms and prevention
In 2025, cases of H5N1 virus have been confirmed in many US states, especially in dairy cows and some poultry farms. Scientists and health agencies are keeping a strong monitoring on its spread in the US. Symptoms like high fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, body pain and sometimes pneumonia can be seen in a person infected with H5N1 virus. The way to avoid this is to stay away from infected birds or animals. Eat eggs and meat well and eat. People working in farm or fields wear masks and gloves. Contact the doctor immediately on any unusual symptoms. Follow the guidelines issued by the government and health agencies.
