US President Donald Trump has said that if Apple wants to set up a plant in India, it is fine but by doing so, this technology sector company will not be able to sell its products in America without fee.
Trump’s comment came at a time when he signed several executive orders in his office ‘Oval Office’ to promote American nuclear power.
Trump said on Friday, “I agreed with Tim (Cook) that he would not do so.” He said that he is going to India to build a plant. I said, “If you have to go to India, then it’s okay but you will not be able to sell here without fees” and it is so. “
He said, “We are talking about the iPhone. If they want to sell it in America, then I want it to be made in America. ”
Trump said in a ‘post’ on social media earlier on Friday morning that he hoped that the Apple iPhone sold in the US will be manufactured in America itself, not “India or any other place.”
He threatened that if the company does not follow it, he would impose a 25 percent fee on its products.
Trump wrote, “I had told Apple’s Tim Cook long ago that his iPhone sold in America would be manufactured here, not in India or in any other place. If it does not, then Apple will have to pay at least 25 percent of the fee to the US.”
Last week, Trump said in Doha during his visit to West Asia that he has asked Apple Chief Executive Officer (CEO) not to build in India, but develop his manufacturing capability in America.
Tim Cook -led Apple company is considering transferring iPhone manufacturing from China to India.
