People deported from America were detained in a hotel in Panama
Panama City: About 300 people from various countries deported by the administration of US President Donald Trump have been detained by Panama in a hotel. Until the international authorities arranged their indigenous return, the deported people are not being allowed to leave. Officials said that more than 40 percent of the migrants do not want to return their homeland voluntarily. On the windows of hotel rooms, these migrants have written messages like ‘help’ and ‘We are not safe in our country’.
These countries including India are migrant
These migrants are from other countries including Iran, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan and China. America has difficulty in deporting directly into some of these countries, so Panama is being used as a stop. Panama’s security minister Frank Abrego said on Tuesday that migrants are being provided medical care and food under the migration agreement between Panama and the US.
America will bear full expenses
The Panama government has now agreed to serve as a ‘bridge’ for the exile, while the US will bear all the expenses of this campaign. The agreement was announced after the visit of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio earlier this month. Panama President Jose Raul Mulino, who is facing political pressure due to Trump’s threats to withdraw control over the Panama Canal, announced the arrival of the first flight of the exile on Thursday.
