Colombo: Sri Lankan President Anuraa Kumara Disanayake on Saturday ordered the friend Vibhushan Award to which Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, let us know what it is and for what it is. Sri Lanka’s highest civilian honor is Mitra Vibhushan
The award given by President Anura Kumara Disanayake to PM Modi is Sri Lanka’s highest civilian honor. It was started in February 2008 by the then President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Earlier, the award has been presented to former Maldives President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and late Palestinian leader Yasir Arafat. Modi said in his address, “It is an honor for me to honor Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushan. It is also an honor for 1.4 billion Indians. ”
What happens in this award
Disanayake presented the award to Modi during a ceremony held at the President’s Secretariat in Colombo. It provides a citation and a silver medal. The silver medal is worn around the neck and has nine types of Sri Lankan gems, as well as symbols of lotus, globe, sun, moon and rice piles. The Dharma Chakra inscribed on the medal reflects the common Buddhist heritage which has shaped the cultural traditions of both countries. According to an official, punishment with rice piles is a symbol of richness or formal utensils prosperity and renovation.
Navratna or nine precious gems are shown within a globe surrounded by lotus petals. Modi arrived at Colombo last evening after ending his visit to Bangkok, where he attended the BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal for multi -regional technical and economic cooperation). (Language)
