Kites play an important role in the ecosystem
According to an estimate, around 22,000 species of kites are found in Australia and most of these (species) perform their activities at night, although some species of kites are active in the day and some morning and evening. Leswings and mentisfly ‘leswings’ belongs to an ancient group of insects (neuroptera), whose name is named due to a delicate mesh of veins on their wings. Most adults hunt at night and eat small insects using their hollow, scissors-shaped mouths to remove nutrients from their prey. Many ‘leswings’ species are effective insect control controls and are used in agriculture to manage pests such as ‘Aphids’ and ‘Milibs’. ‘Mantisfly’, known as ‘Mantisfly’, resembles a strange hybrid between Mantis and fly but is actually similar to ‘leswings’. The larvae of ‘Mantisfly’ have been rarely studied but most species are considered to be the predators of insects, although some eat spider eggs. ‘Mantisfly’ plays a role in controlling the population of insects by eating other insects.

Artificial lights at night are causing severe disruption for insects working in the night shift. The insects often get confused and fly in the endless circle around the bright light and spend their energy, due to which they die. This tiredness caused by confusion can cause their death. Artificial lights at night can also disrupt the breeding of insects. Owls and bats etc. hunt around artificial lights, as their prey becomes more concentrated and weak in this type of light.
