The World Health Organization (WHO) member countries on Tuesday formally unanimously voted in favor of the world’s first epidemic agreement. The United Nations (UN) Health Body announced this in a statement. The purpose of this agreement is to ensure that the country work together for effective prevention, preparation and response of future epidemics.
What is the purpose of the agreement?
The disaster agreement was introduced during the Korona epidemic and the process of adopting it for more than 3 years before it was approved. In this agreement, there was talk of removing the deficiencies for the prevention of epidemic. WHO said in a statement that this important agreement was adopted under Article 19 of the WHO Constitution. Its purpose is to promote strong cooperation among international organizations, civil society, private sector and other stakeholders like countries, WHOs to prevent epidemics. In future, an epidemic can be better dealt with in case of crisis.
What did the Director General of WHO say?
Dr. Tedros Adenam Ghebresius, Director General of the World Health Organization, said, “Governments around the world are making their countries and global communities safe from the hazards of epidemic. I congratulate the member countries of the World Health Organization for a resolve to come together to save the world in a better way from the future epidemics after Kovid-19. Their job to develop this global agreement will ensure that the countries work together better, faster and more equally to prevent and respond to the threat of the next epidemic. ‘
Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing System (PABS) will be created under this agreement. A inter -inter -working work group will be established for this. Pharma company will also be included in this PABS system, so that the vaccine can be prepared at the earliest in the event of an epidemic.
